Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data LaterRole collects, why, and what rights you have. We aim to be straightforward and to collect only what we need to run the community.

1. Who is responsible for your data

LaterRole ("we", "us") runs this platform and is the data controller for the personal data described here. We operate from Lithuania.

2. The data we collect

• Account details: your name, email, and password (always stored in encrypted/hashed form - we never see your actual password).
• Profile information you choose to add: what best describes you, your current role or studies, country of origin, where in Lithuania you are, LinkedIn, areas of interest, and a short bio.
• Community content: posts, comments and likes you create. You can post or comment anonymously to other members, but this content remains linked to your account internally and is visible to our moderators.
• Private messages: the content of messages you send and who you exchange them with. These are private between participants - see "Private messages" below.
• Reports: reports you submit, and reports concerning your content or conversations.
• Talent submissions: if you use the "For Talent" form - your details and, optionally, the CV you upload.
• Employer submissions: if you represent a company - your company and contact details.
• Messages to us: anything you send via the contact form.
• Technical data: a session cookie to keep you logged in, and standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability.

3. Why we use your data, and our legal basis

• To provide the service (your account, the feed, messaging) - necessary to perform our agreement with you.
• To keep the community safe (moderation, handling reports, preventing abuse) - our legitimate interest in a safe platform.
• With your consent - for example, storing a CV you upload, or sending you our optional digest. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• To meet legal obligations where applicable.

4. Private messages

Private messages are visible to you and the person you are messaging. We do not read private messages routinely. However, if you or the other person reports a conversation, our moderators may review that specific conversation to act on harassment, spam or other harm. We may also access messages where we are legally required to. We tell you this clearly so you can use messaging with realistic expectations.

5. Anonymous posting

"Anonymous" posts and comments hide your name from other members. They are not anonymous to us: every post is linked to an account so we can keep the community safe and accountable.

6. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the platform (such as our hosting provider), and only as needed. We do not pass your details to employers without your involvement and consent.

7. Where your data is processed

We aim to host your data within the EU. Some pages currently load fonts and styling from third-party providers (content delivery networks), which may receive your IP address; we intend to serve these ourselves to minimise this. Where data leaves the EU, we rely on appropriate safeguards.

8. How long we keep it

We keep account and profile data while your account is active. We keep talent submissions and CVs only as long as needed to help connect you with opportunities, or until you ask us to remove them. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data at any time.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email privacy@laterrole.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the State Data Protection Inspectorate of Lithuania (Valstybine duomenu apsaugos inspekcija).

10. Security

We protect your data with measures including password hashing, access controls, and restricting who can view sensitive items such as CVs and reported conversations. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously.

11. Age

LaterRole is intended for people aged 16 and over. If you believe a younger person has created an account, please contact us.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform grows. We will change the "last updated" date above, and for significant changes we will give clearer notice.
